Letter Press Printing

Letterpress and wood-type printing are dying art forms that thrived before laser printers, inkjets, and automation came to dominate our print media. The book discusses the history of letterpress and wood-type printing from its humble beginnings to how it’s still an art form practiced today. The book follows strict typography rules and hierarchy which are:

  • Use no more than three typefaces

  • Standard fonts are better than decorative ones

  • Contrasting font pair

  • Use left alignment

  • Balance line height, size, and length

  • Divide the text into paragraphs

  • Create visual hierarchy

The typographic rules and hierarchy are accompanied by photos that connect the text and give the readers a better understanding of the material.
